FeFF Director Statement

Welcome to the 19th edition of the Female Eye Film Festival!

We respectfully acknowledge that we are situated on Traditional Territories and Treaty Lands, in particular those of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, as well as the Anishinaabeg of the Williams Treaty First Nations, the Huron-Wendat, and the Métis Nation. As representatives of the people of the City of Vaughan, we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and live in this territory.

Due to the pandemic, and subsequent lock-down, we have reinvented this edition of FeFF, much like so many others in the cultural sectors. We are delighted to commence this edition on March 8th International Women's Day (IWD) with a very special BEST IN THE BIZ TRIBUTE to our HONORARY MAVERICK, FILMMAKER, PATRICIA ROZEMA.

Films will be presented digitally on Encore+ and on digital TIFF Bell Lightbox from March 8 to 28.  We could not have done this without the support of Telefilm Canada, Encore+, and Women In the Director’s Chair (WIDC). FeFF’s Industry Initiatives Program, supported by Ontario Creates, will be as robust and engaging as ever utilizing virtual platforms.

We welcome you to celebrate films directed by women from around the world. Thank you for joining us.

Upward and onward!

Yours sincerely,

Leslie Ann Coles, Founder, Executive/Artistic Director, The Female Eye
